Fasteners & cutting tools — how we pick and size them

The reason a small repair stalls is almost never the big part. It is one washer of the wrong inner diameter, one screw two millimetres short, one spring that has lost its temper. We sell those in counts of 20, 50 and 100, with the dimensions in the title: inner diameter, outer diameter, thickness, thread pitch, free length. Flat washers, spring washers, nylon washers, hex nuts, wing nuts, machine screws, self tapping screws, standoffs, spacers, circlips and compression springs.

What sits next to what

Cutting and finishing share the aisle. Rotary tool bits, cut-off discs, diamond burrs, needle files, deburring tools, utility blades and hole saws. Abrasive sheets and discs by grit. None of this is a tool purchase so much as a consumable one — buy the sizes around the one you need, because the second trip costs more than the extra pack.
