What this bin holds

These M2 high-speed steel jobber drill bits are engineered for drilling into harder metals. They deliver strong wear and heat resistance for demanding applications.

We offer four packs of 4.5mm drill bits, each with a 47mm flute length and an 80mm overall length. Made from M2 high-speed steel, these bits have good wear and heat resistance, making them suitable for general strength drilling. The black and gold finish adds to their wear and corrosion resistance, helping them last longer through many jobs.

Who takes it home

These drill bits are especially suited for processing medium to high-hardness materials, such as stainless steel, iron, aluminum, and various alloys. Always position your twist drill at a 90° angle to the workpiece. For larger holes, we suggest starting with a smaller guide hole to ensure accuracy and reduce stress on the bit.

  • It's hard to review a drill bit, it's a pretty standard device that performs a pretty standard function. If you put it in a drill and make it turn fast it makes holes in things. And this drill bit seems to make holes in things. Small holes admittedly, because I chose a small drill bit. But then if I wanted big holes I'd have chosen a big drill bit. My primary use for these is drilling pilot holes for thin screws, although every once in a while I need to drill a smal hole in the end of something and put one in my lathe. And whichever way I use them, they make small holes in things. These 3/32"…

  • I tested one of these drill bits on a piece of hardened 1/4 inch steel square tubing without giving it the benefit of a pilot hole or even a center punch, just to see how it would perform. Using my drill press and lubricating oil, the bit zipped right through the hardened steel and did not try to walk or move out of the target position. In the photo provided, the bit on the left is new and unused, and the bit on the right is the bit that I used. There is very little difference between the two, and other than a few tiny marks, the used bit is as sharp as it was before using it. I am very…

  • Good wood drill bits have a center point and lateral cutting flutes to bore a smooth sided hole and lessen cutout splintering. Metal drill bits have a flatter 135° face angle and should be used with cutting lubricant to dissipate heat. ⅜” is a very commonly used drill bit; consequently mine are usually dull and sharpening them a real pain in the ass. Fortunately one can now buy individual bits in quantity, rather than having to buy a whole set, just to replace the used bits. I first tested the drill on a piece of 1.5” thick construction lumbar and illustrated the adage that one should not use…
