What makers wrote about this bin
This is an excellent damper unit. When you order it, you should know that the housing is Stainless steel. This means that you will not be able to use regular sheet metal screws on it without cutting a hole first. I had to use a mechanical punch to cut holes in it. The stainless steel is nearly impossible to drill with a hand drill (you would need a drill press & lubrication jet to keep the drill from overheating). Once that problem was solved, it was installed easily and worked flawlessly. It is super sturdy and well-built because it is stainless steel. I am super happy with the unit.
SaltRunner · 5 of 5 I built my house a few years ago and have always had hot/cold spots and hot cold rooms, I hired an HVAC company to install the original furnace/AC system and they did an ok job but they never installed dampers and me being ignorant to this part I just chalked it up to not having the correct system? Talking to my neighbor we asked me if I had a damper system? No but I am thinking of putting in an automated one so I could adjust the rooms in the winter and summer to the families liking. He suggested just putting manual dampers in and the air balancing the house... I looked into it and before…
db2471 · 5 of 5 I liked the quality of the damper mechanism and the weight of the item not cheaply made. The only problems or issues I had with them was that both ends were the same meaning that they are not crimped making it difficult to connect to the same diameter of steel ductwork. The material is also not a galvanized sheet metal so using zip screws quickly are not going to happen and you must pre-drill the holes. The ends should be longer and crimped since you will be connecting it to the same diameter ductwork, I made them work but may change them out later for a true HVAC product.
Roberto Salazar · 4 of 5 This is a stainless steel duct. You won't be able to drill holes in it, so make sure you measure the duct work accurately to install it. Also get clamps for both end to hold them to the duct pipes or get adhesive foil tape to wrap the joints to seal them and hold them together. I took durable metal straps and pop-riveted them on to both ends of the duct work, which is metal and can be drilled easily, and attached to each side of the duct valve. The straps hold the ends of the duct work tight on the duct valve. It won't fall out or come loose.
