What this bin holds

This dark purple elastic beading string lets you craft jewelry pieces that stretch. It returns to its original shape and keeps your projects secure for a long time.

We make this stretchy cord from elastane, giving it extreme elasticity without deforming easily. Each roll provides 50 meters, or 55 yards, of 0.8mm diameter cord. This size is thin enough to slip through beads, yet strong enough to handle regular wear without snapping.

Who takes it home

Jewelry makers will find this beading string useful for bracelets, necklaces, anklets, and friendship bracelets. You can also use it for drawstring bags or holiday decorations. When you cut the cord, leave it slightly longer than you need to easily tie your knots.

What makers wrote about this bin

  • This string feels almost exactly like a really thin strand of rubber band material, which actually works really well for the kind of crafting we use it for. My kids make a lot of pony bead bracelets and other little bead projects, and this has been easy for them to work with. It has plenty of stretch, the beads slide onto it easily, and it is simple to knot when they are finished. It is thin enough to work with the beads without feeling bulky, but still has that nice elastic snap back. I also really like having black instead of always using clear or white elastic. It is such a neutral color…

  • It's fairly standard. Translucent, stretchy, and there's a good amount of it. Comes in relatively larger spools. Nothing particular to note.
