The lamp shade material feels like normal lamp shade material and it just clicks onto the metal frame. We decided we wanted a cleaner look so we used cable tracks to hide the wire. It's a super quick light and affordable light solution. Quality feels just find for what it is. Our home is old and we don't have lights in bedrooms or livingroom. This is a great space saving option.
