What this bin holds

Our graphite stirring rods are ready for your casting projects. They are useful for stirring liquid metals like silver, gold, and copper, or as electrodes.

This is a pack of five graphite stirring rods. Each rod is 150 mm (5.9 inches) long and 8 mm (0.31 inch) in diameter. We make these rods from high-purity, high-strength graphite, giving them a smooth surface, good electrical conductivity, and high resistance to heat and corrosion.

Who takes it home

Metal casters and jewelers will find these rods helpful for stirring molten metals. To maintain a safe distance from the heat, consider attaching the graphite rod to a longer iron rod or wooden chopstick when stirring.

What makers wrote about this bin

  • My son used this for his STEM Science project. He was measuring conductivity and energy from common food waste. It works pretty well and his project even won the Blue Ribbon at our County Science Expo.

  • I used this for a Bernina sewing machine foot pedal it had 2- carbon tracers/electrodes in it at $11.51 a piece. I decided to buy this cut it down by etching it with a file then it snapped clean off down to 1/2 inch pieces. The Bernina carbon tracers were milled down at the end to hold the springs in. I simply drilled out the end to accept a straight piece of carbon verses a milled down piece. The pedal works as good as new. I have several to compare it to . It was a Bernina 290 foot pedal
